Sneaky Roof Leaks | Gresham

If you have water staining on your ceiling or walls, you know you've got a leaky roof... but WHERE exactly is it?
In Portland, many homes have an attic- that can make things easier.
The folks over at dummies.com have some great suggestions.
On the next rainy day, head up to the attic with a flashlight. The water should be easy to spot, since it will reflect the light from your flashlight. A grease pencil would be very handy, as you want to mark the spot. Once you've done that, it's time to do one of two things- wait for a dry day to rustle up a helper to help you locate the leak on the surface of your roof- you can find further directions for that here.
If clambering onto the roof doesn't sound like something you're up for, it's time to give the pros a call. Beisa's offers free estimates and can tell you if there's been further water damage that should be looked into. Water can sneak into the walls of your home, creating great spots for mold growth and dry rot not to mention the damage it can cause to paint and wallpaper.
So, if you notice the tell-tale water stains of a leaky roof you have some options. Just remember, if you choose to use a contractor, make sure they are licensed, bonded and insured- like Beisa's Legacy. It also doesn't hurt to check out a contractor's Better Business rating (we have an A+) and their reviews on Angie's List and other review sites.
