Curb Appeal | Vancouver, WA

Portland's real estate market is booming. Maybe you're looking to cash out of your home or maybe you're looking to flip a fixer-upper. Either way, curb appeal is a topic you should be researching- maybe that's how you found this blog!
There's a few "quick fixes" that will increase your home's curb appeal. A new front door or a fresh coat of paint come to mind for most folks, but have you considered replacing windows or adding a front porch?
There aren't decisions to be taken lightly. If your home fails the buyer's expectations on the "curb appeal" front, chances are, they won't even come inside.
  • Clutter- Tidying up your front yard has a huge impact. Garden hoses should be stored, kids toys and bikes should be put away and the porch should be clean and swept.
  • Peeling paint in "interesting" colors. Unfortunately, that bright pink paint you may LOVE may be turning buyers off. Take a look around your neighborhood. Ideally, you want your house to be the best-looking of the bunch, but still conform to the overall aesthetic.
  • Unfashionable or outdated fixtures. If you're porch light looks like it was transported straight out of the 80's, you should think about updating.
  • Chipped/damaged siding. If this is an issue for you, it may be a great time to consider upgrading your siding to something more energy-efficient. We're big proponents of HardieBoard insulated siding products. This type of siding can also become a selling point when you highlight the increase to your home's energy efficiency.
  • Landscaping. If your yard is overgrown or full of dead trees, you need to get it under control.
Make sure your home stands out in the right ways!
If you're buying a home, what do you look for?
