Water, Water Everywhere | Wood Village Or
January 25, 2017Your Home in the Great Wet PNW | Wood Village Or
Standing water or a leak is easy to spot, but those aren't the only places where water could be damaging your home.
Here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, we get more moisture than the national average. Even if you don't see water making it into your home, it might be working its way in.
Water damaged siding is not only unsightly but can act as a conduit for termites, mold and other homewreckers to gain a foothold.
Water stains on walls and ceilings can indicate a hidden leak and should be investigated immediately before the problem escalates.
Moss on roofs- something we see often here in the Wood Village/Portland area can grow to the point where it's forcing shingles apart. This can lead to leaks. There's a few options for dealing with moss, but it's a good idea to get the roof inspected to ensure no larger problems have been caused.
Whatever the issue, dealing with moisture quickly is key. If left, mold can flourish. Mold can cause all sorts of problems, from aggravating asthma to leaving unsightly stains on painted surfaces and making wood more vulnerable to rot.
