Research Your General Contractor
Gresham, Oregon

Remodeling?
Building an addition?
Repairing your home?

Maybe you have a reference from a friend or family member.
Maybe a friend or family member is a general contractor.
These are good places to start your search, but don't stop there!
There's a number of sites dedicated to helping you find builders, remodelers, architects and other construction professionals.

It's also a good idea to cross-reference your selections against the Better Business Bureau.

In addition, there's a few "red flags" you need to be aware of.
  • A contractor that solicits business by going door-to-door is likely not a reputable businessperson.
  • A contractor that "doesn't believe in contracts."
  • A contractor who doesn't have insurance or won't share their insurance information.
  • A contractor who does not have or will not share references from previous clients.
Remember, it's YOUR home and YOUR money. Don't be afraid to ask questions and to talk to multiple contractors before making YOUR decision.
